[Insert “thanks for your patience and for sticking around” abundance of gratitude here.]
Welcome to the thick ‘n juicy, protein-packed, meaty center that is Prologue Part Two. (If you missed Part One — oh hi new subscribers!! — go to there now.)
Pro-Tip
If you’re looking at this via email and especially with a mobile device—yikes—my apologies. No “phone-friendly” version this time. I also chop the comic in half so it loads faster, so if you tappy-tap the one below to expand, make sure you tap them both. Basically, you could actually click here to see the full monty even bigger and more bodacious.
On with it!
References
Today’s multi-dimensional, multi-media creation has enough easter eggs to make fluffy festive frittatas for all your loved ones. I’m going to play a little differently today. If you spot a pop culture reference in the comic, throw it in the comment section! There’s a super obscure one tucked deep in there; your hint is The Lost Lottery. Take some time with it, let the egg wash over you.
Speaking of which, to logistically connect the comic above to the website out there didn’t happen like I thought it could because Substack won’t let you add links to images. Man that would’ve been amazing. So forgive the awkward. This “Don’t Make Me Think” UXer over here hates it.
Finally, I’d love to give props to Season 3 Artisan’s Way Foster workshop again. I actually wrote this entire thing back in June. I had absolutely NO clue how it would transition from words in a Google Doc into Bonesick-ness until I settled on the fact that the second half should be a real website. Then a week later, the drawing gods gifted me with the images of the first half chopped up into various scenes. In any case, EXTRA THANKS to the following Foster Folks who helped edit this piece to make it better: Jude Klinger, Michael Shafer, Chris Angelis, and Nick Drage. And another round of applause for Sara Campbell my coach this season.
Ready for the final part of the Prologue?
Ok I’m on mobile so I will have to revisit this on desktop but just wanted to say YAY!! I love how this is evolving and am so excited to keep reading this story as it unfolds!
So exciting to see this prologue continue to develop! I love the quietness of it all, the color palette (very Shades of Blue.) And the Sicada Labs website is so polished — I need them to design my website! ❤️
